Word Of The Month: Analogue

Back when I was on Brave, a couple of years ago, Noah Klocek spearheaded a monthly challenge - to do an illustration based on a randomly selected word via a word generator on the internet. The rules were simple - no rules except to complete it in the duration of the month. I fell off quickly...here's to making a change.

This is my March entry: "Analogue" graphite on paper, 8"x12"

Sidenote //

I consider myself lucky starting off this challenge with a word like this. If you've read my blurb of a bio on the right, or if you know me personally, then you know that DJing is a hobby of mine. I''ve been a lover and practitioner of the art form and an avid student of the skratch since '99. I love music and I LOVE vinyl. When "analogue" came up as the result, I knew right away that I wanted to depict something related to turntables.

BRAVE in Snow!

As the cool weather approaches, I thought this would be nice to share. There was a time where a huge chunk of "Brave" was set in snow - a lot of snow. Here's a glimpse at some of the artwork I did depicting moments from an early version of "Brave." Enjoy viewing with your favorite hot beverage. ;)

BRAVE eyecandy

Now that "BRAVE" is finally out in theaters (US and some parts of the world), I'll slowly post some of my contributions to the film. Here's a little something to hold you over. This is a small painting I did intended for publicity; however, it was never used. Enjoy!

A Color Script Exercise

So a few weeks ago, Dice challenged me to partake on a super fun exercise and here's the result; a color script exercise based on Maurice Sendak's classic, Where The Wild Things Are. And since this is all about color and lighting, all designs / layouts are left in true Sendak fashion.

Some quick brushpen action during a team meeting at work. That's a crab scratch, btw.
